Philip A. “Phil” Schembra was raised in an Italian family in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, by parents with a strong moral foundation who encouraged him to be the best he could be. Phil’s passion for motivation, excellence and gaining the competitive edge was nurtured at Glen Ridge High School in New Jersey, where he was an All-State Group I football player and member of the track team. During the 60’s, his football team had the highest winning percentage in the state of New Jersey, losing only three games in 10 years and his track team won 10 consecutive Group I State Championships.
Phil knows, firsthand, that the road to success, in any endeavor, is built through motivation, discipline and a “commitment to excellence.” Following these guidelines, he has become a successful author and publisher, real estate entrepreneur, business and sports consultant. He is President and Chief Executive Officer of Schembra Corporation, which encompasses Schembra Real Estate Group, Inc. and Hilton Head Island Performance Group, Inc.
In 1979 Phil founded Hilton Head Island Performance Group, Inc. (HHIPG) to offer a line of life learning programs designed to help individuals improve the quality of their lives by focusing on achieving excellence and gaining the competitive edge. He has written and spoken about the principles of time management, life learning, goal setting, preparation, team building and leadership for executives, salespeople, individuals and people in the “world of sports.”
For 18 years, Phil’s mentor was Norman Racusin, former Vice President for Reader’s Digest and President of RCA Records, who was instrumental in signing Elvis Presley. Collaborating with Norm, he included his core beliefs and philosophies into this unique line of life learning programs. These programs, integrated into a user-friendly weekly planner makes learning enjoyable, non-time consuming, functional and affordable. Planner styles include: THE TOTAL EXECUTIVE®, THE TOTAL SALESPERSON® and THE TOTAL PERSON®. We have just completed the 14th edition of the NFLPA Player Planner with the NFL Players Association and the 2nd edition of the High School Player Development (HSPD) Student Planner with the NFL and The National Guard.
Phil moved to Hilton Head Island and established Schembra Real Estate Group, Inc. to provide buyers and sellers with the most enjoyable and beneficial real estate experience possible through outstanding customer service. Quickly moving to the top of his field, Phil earned and has maintained numerous sales records, such as #1 All-Time Listing and Selling Agent for homes, homesites and condominiums in one community…all achieved in Palmetto Dunes, Shelter Cove and Leamington. The National Association of Realtors, America’s largest trade association representing over 1,300,000 members, has recognized him as one of the “Top 100 Sales Teams” in the Country.
Phil has also been significantly involved in numerous charities and community activities and was awarded the prestigious Thurman Munson Award. The award recognizes athletic accomplishment and philanthropic contributions, and is considered one of the highest honors bestowed upon an athlete in New York City. The annual Thurman Munson Awards Dinner benefits the Association for the Help of Retarded Children. Phil’s passion for excellence and intense desire to help people, evident in both his successful real estate business and life learning company, has afforded him strong relationships with a diverse and impressive group of people representing fields from education and athletics to politics, corporate America and charitable organizations. They have served as an invaluable resource to reinforce his mindset as a life learner, and inspire him to continue excelling today.
